I don't think the 360 has 1 awesome exclusive every 6 months. It's more like 1 every 9 months. One year it will have 1, then the next year it will have 2.
Halo sells like that.
I think I'll take Kratos as my role model.
The two biggest things that determine where people will go next generation are.
1) PRICE - If the PS3 had cost the same or less than the Wii and 360 then this generation would have looked like last gen. But the 360 has had a cheaper entry point throughout the entire generation. Therefore the sales have been about 50/50 overall even though the PS3 has had better games then the 360 ever since 2008.
2) WHATEVER NEW TECHNOLOGY THAT SONY DECIDES TO PUSH NEXT ...

I am convinced that any 360 sales they lose by making it exclusive, they will make up in increased PS3 sales. So, I don't think that they would be giving up a 100 million dollars in revenue by making it exclusive.
1. Being exclusive means that it could be made closer to vision and would likely result in a better game.
2. Microsoft had exclusive marketing rights in the West.
I just hope that it isn't Versus XIII nerfed and made multi-plat.
I wonder if this both versions of the game are down graded from the original FFXIII.
That is the comparison that I want to see.

Microsoft did have more exclusives in 2006 and 07, but they did it with mostly third party support. Now they are reaping what they have sown in field of exclusive games, which is almost nothing.
In 2006 & 2007, the PS3 was brand new and perfectly alien with a small install base. Now the PS3 makes up about 50% of the hardcore install base, give or take a few million for time of year, bricked systems, and whose numbers you choose to believe. ...

They have to tell us that the lead platform is the PS3 because Platnium burned their bridge to PS3 fans with Bayonetta, AND most of the Metal Gear fans are on PS3.
They NEED us to know that, unlike Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising will be at least as good on the PS3.
The single worst thing that they could do would be to make the PS3 version of Rising worse than the 360 version, by even a small measure. That would piss of the Meta...

Judging from the trailers I suspect that they will re-use the map by having us backtrack and play the same map at different points in history. That should add hours without requiring much new assets.

You used the word 'portrayed' incorrectly. You said the gamers were "thinking the game would be something it never portrayed itself to be." That implies that there first was a portrayal and later there was an actual product to compare to the portrayal.
Then you say that you were comparing the game to itself with no preconceived notions. That is not a comparison to the way it was portrayed; that is a judgement on whether you liked ...
I hope this game works out. I had hoped that it was going to fill in the blanks from 13's story. I am very disappointed that it is going to be about time travel. Time travel never answers questions, it just creates questions. I hope they found a different way to deal with time travel that brings some sense to the story.
The only problem is that FFXIII did exactly what you said it didn't do. It portrayed itself to be a better game, the developers cut content from it and nerfed its graphics at the same time. That made it less than what it portrayed itself as.
They did that with FFXIII. They released a demo for FF13 on the Advent Children blu-ray about a year before the final game released. The demo allowed people to compare the final product to the demo. When people compared the two they saw that the final product was lessened in quality.
There were entire volumes written about it on the internet. I'm surprised you missed it. Or maybe you didn't miss it?

I want a survival horror game that uses the same story that the early Resident Evils used. Make use scavage for ammo. Make use avoid fights. Put us in a sandbox and make us backtrack in order to search and to fight for keys that unlock new areas of the map.
Resident Evil doesn't seem to want that formula anymore, Naughty Dog may as well use it.
Romeo and Juliet was about warring factions and two lovers who were born within them...so yeah Romeo and Juliet in Japan.
Although I read somewhere that the actual baseline for Versus XIII was "Hamlet".
